Went out solo before the wedding on Saturday. Straight out of Shark River 40’ and had solid readings 10’ off the bottom. Jigged for a couple of hours but all I got were some Blues for the effort. Couldn’t get the jig to the bottom for all the blues there. Went back in keeping three small blues for the grill. Now Sunday was a different story, ocean was a little better than Saturday but still a bit bumpy ( perfect bass water). Left the dock on my friends boat The Capt. Crunch form Manasquan and were dragging lines by 8:15. A lot of 16-18# blues they were fun but not what we were there for. Then they came. We picked four bass in less than 2 hours
. I had the first bass @ 30” 11# and Mark and Bob had the next two @ 29” and 32 “ . Then came the moment I had been waiting for Joey’s first bass. After fighting the big blues he was showing signs of wear but with a little ribbing from the guy’s on the boat he fought the first bass for him to the boat.
It was a nice on 36” @ 16 pounds. Joey was the man to beat but the bite dropped out and we ended up going home with one happy little guy! It was a great day and really great to see him get his first bass. He can’t wait to get out there and do it again.
