Hi Reel Time,
Was the line wrapped around the cable? If so, was it wound tightly?
A little known fact is that the ground in the cables break real easy if you clamp something around them, for example a wire tie. You should try to avoid things like that at all cost.
I would ass-ume that if all other functions are working, I would reseat the cable at the back of the unit. I would also try to find the "Master Reset" key sequence for that unit. You can ask one of the techs and they will tell you.
If that fails, the integrated temp sensor in the transducer must have a problem. I have not heard of anything like that happening.
If you do talk to a tech, do not tell them about the wire wrapped around the transducer. Just say the readings are weird and ask what to look for (besides the master reset sequence). They probably will send a new transducer if it is under warrantee or they feel like having good Customer Satisfaction ratings that day.
This is a time where not telling the whole story may work toward your advantage.
I will look into this a bit tomorrow evening as I have folks I know at Lowrance.
Thanks,
Capt. Ed
