« on: November 04, 2009, 10:05:17 AM »
Cambridge, Maryland - Delaware Senator Robert Lee Venables (D, 21) was injured in a boating accident Saturday morning in Dorchester County. NRP received the call at 10:40, and was on the scene at Brooks Creek by 10:52 a.m., where they found paramedics treating Senator Venables (76) and Ralph Gootee (76)-both of Laurel, DE-for nonlife-threatening injuries.

Maryland State Police transported both victims to Shock Trauma by medevac. Both victims were conscious and NRP does not suspect alcohol played a part in the accident. NRP believes the victims were in a 2003 16 foot aluminum Tracker. NRP Special Operations Division is investigating the accident.
