BEACH HAVEN — A man was pulled from the water this morning after his 18-foot boat sunk in Barnegat Bay, the Coast Guard reported.

A private boater pulled the unresponsive 55-year-old man from the bay. The Coast Guard declined to identify both boaters.

A Coast Guard crew attempted to revive the troubled boater but were unsuccessful, a Coast Guard spokesman said.

Beach Haven emergency medical technicians met the rescue crew at the Beach Haven Yacht Club and continued attempts to resuscitate the man, but they were also unsuccessful, an EMS spokeswoman said.

Southern Ocean County Hospital officials declined to discuss the man's status.

Sad to hear.  I was listening to the rescue on the vhf today.  The boat was an 18' Boston Whaler. T & P go out to the family and friends.
