The resident stripers hang around all year. I fish all year or at least when there is a warming spell. The bites are fewer and farther in between but they are still hanging out there. Use the freshest bait you can find and if there are no clams make sure you salted the leftovers.
Dress warm and make sure you have a good heater. I usually keep my veh running when I am out in the winter.
I have to tell you though getting older sucks. I can not take the cold like I used to.
