I like (for lack of a better word) the June 20- Sept. 8 option for the reason that it would be the most beneficial economically.  It opens just as the kids are getting out of school and closes just after Labor Day.  This is prime time for vacations (i.e. tourist season).

IMO, a split season (as they have done in New York) would be terrible. :P

taking a few weeks off it messed up..  Can you imagine shutting down the fluke season for almost a month, during mid summer when people are on vacation.

When I am on vacation, I utilize my time and get on the water as much as possible.. Why would I want a closed fluke season in the middle of the summer.. screw the break...

A early seaon is a waste since I am personally still targeting the Stripers at that time, so need to for a too early season.  Mid summer is the HOT time for fluke, stripers are less, and with all the other regs out there, the fluke season needs to stay open..

i can tell u i would also be in favor of the june 20th - sept 8th....i do almost no fluking until then anyway because of striped bass....if i had to do a split season....i would chose the one that ran longer at the end.

Don't ya know that none of the regulations are based on common sense.

We should be lucky they don't tell us the fluke season is Dec 15 to March 30. Unlimited creel and size.  TT^

If I had to vote, I would take the later season. Hopefully the choices will be better than these.  :P

Another problem is that due to our state's geography, there will never be a season  that will work for everybody.  That is, unless that season runs May to October.  And we all know that's not happening anytime in the near future.

There is such a large disparity of time from when the fluke start biting in Cape May to when they start biting in Atlantic Highlands, one set of regulations for the state will never work out perfectly.

when you fish, you always want to target something.  Since Stripers are in full sting until late june, there is no need to start the fluke season that early since we have an alternative fish to catch.  A late season fluke year will bring us right back into the striper season with out no down time inbetween.. (in a perfect world), but like stated above, we don't have a choice based on common sence.

Any season that would include Sept and later.Open in July around the 4th if you have to. We can catch & release early but the big fish are mostly caught in August,Sept&October. With no sea bass season to speak of it's gonna be a tough year.
