Flippin' fer bass
« on: January 17, 2010, 11:02:56 AM »
So, I was watching a fishing show on ESPN, and I saw a technique of fishing that broke all the rules for me.

It's called flipping. The guy said what he used at it's as follows.

At least a 7'6" "Flippin Stick"
7:1 ratio reel
65# + Power Pro
3/4-1 1/2 ounce weights
5O "Flippin Hook" (Offset hooks)
Split tail grubs/beavers

What he did was threw it into the thickest of "thickets", wait for a bite, and rip it out like there is no tomorrow. Literally trying to rip the hook right out of the fishes mouth. Reminded me of Tog fishing in a way, where you just want to get the fish out of cover.

Has anyone ever tried this? Sounds like fun and a headache all in one!

Definitely a great way to fish for largemouth and a lot of fun!  The reel is not as important as the long rod and the heavy line.  Hook 'em and heave 'em! t^
