sounds like you got your feet wet in mechanics 101
You must have been freaking after thinking you could take off the intake to remove the pistons, then all of a sudden you had a disassembled block on the back porch :'(  Lots of great info  TT^

I was amazed when I saw the "mess" of engine parts strewn over the back porch. I was also amazed that 75% of my tools went into the "Boat tool box" I did have a nice socket set  rgmn

All in all though, it came as a shock to me when I heard him start it up. It's not that I didn't have faith, it's just that there were so many parts laying around, I was more surprised that he was able to find everything rather then getting it together.  t^  t^ Two thumbs up hotrod!

What promoted me to post this was the question about 2 stokes..  this motor ran fine..  with a blow out ring and a piece missing off the piston..  I only found out from the low compression test.  I bought that boat for $600 t^

It's a good thing that you listened to the advice given you and didn't keep running that motor or you would have had more of a nightmare on your hands.  I'm doing a compression check on my 88 HP V-4 today. I hope it's a positive outcome. 5hrug

YEAH BABY!  120 lbs Per Cyl. All is right with the world.  I'm amazed, From the looks of the motor I would have thought it could only be used as a boat anchor.  chrz chrz chrz slt slt slt
