I've been hearing a lot of talk about some of the charter boats going out to the EEZ and catching (and keeping) some monster stripers.

Can you elaborate on this?  Is this really as big of a problem that some are making it out to be?

Thanks,
Bob

I am assuming they are doing this illegally?

Bob,

There is always a lot of talk about charter boats fishing outside of the EEZ.

This is my theory. I don't agree with the law on the EEZ. But its what we are dealt with today. So in saying that, "I abide by the Law". Period. I let all of my charters know that before they even book the trip. So there is no question what so ever when it comes to fishing over the line.

Do others do it! I guess some "yes" & some "no". I can only control what happens here onboard my vessel, and I don't fish over the line! I really don't pay to much attention to gossip, so I can't tell you if its a problem.

But if their inside, its "GAME ON BABY"

Capt. Scott, how is it by the fishing pier off the CBBT?  I hear they are catching nice size stripers ouit there.  Is this a day or night thing?  As here the pre-dawn and dusk are the best times.  I am guessing it is the same down there.

Happy Catching

Paul,

The "Seagull" pier is located on the western side of the cbbt. There are resident fish in that area year round. Schoolies size striper can be caught off that pier. Pre-dawn and under the lights at night are off the hook at times. I've caught some really big flounder in that area in the summer~fall months.

Now for the sales pitch!! ;D

For the money you spend, getting on the bridge, paying to fish off the pier, your getting really close to the cost of an "Open Boat" trip.  Then you can really fish the CBBT, and there are some monsters to be caught!!

Hope this helps!!

Capt. Scott
