I believe it is a recommendation that is sent to the feds. Then the feds will either accept it or reject it. But I don't know that they ever rejected the recommendation as it fits into the quota that the feds give us.

As far as anything else. Seabass, may be a split season. The council tonight voted for a split season but they will have to defer to what the feds say because it is a coastal regulation and not state to state. To me, it was a waste of time because of that. Like when your wife asks for your opinion and does what she already wanted to do anyway.  ;D

Large coastal sharks fishing to be shut down from May 15 - July 15. This is NOT the palegic shark that we fish for, mako, for example. So it has no real affect on the typical offshore shark fishing.

Thanks Capt Joe!  I guess it wasn't so bad...it could be worse.  Both summer Holidays and no change in size or limit.

NO.

This was THE meeting. There is no other approval required. The NJMFC decision is final. This state does not require any legislative action to implement the NJMFC decision. It only requires and administrative act of posting the new regs.

Our Fluke season is now 5/29 through 9/6, 18" and 6 fish.
Done deal.

Thanks for the correction on that. I did think that it had to go to the feds for final approval. I'm glad that it does not.  t^

I do not remember the dates for seabass. It is NOT final. Again, it is what most wanted but the feds have the say on this, not the individual states. I do not know that the feds are going for a slit season.
