Oh it sure it a Trophy......  Boy do I have an issue.  I had to cut the old cable in (3) places to remove it.  So of course the new cable will not snake through any possible opening.  I see myself as having (2) choices:

1.  Cut out the fishbox in the deck to route the cable and then re-glass the box back in.

2.  Install a rigging tube under the gunnel.  Not the most pretty fix, but it would be the quickest.

Does anybody have any ideas that I might not be thinking of or seeing???????

MM - I'm gunna guess you have a story or two about a Trophy??

I'm in the middle of one right now. A Trophy nightmare. Dual cable Rack System. Barely get your hand under dash. No access behind it, meaning they did not cut and install an access port or hatch. Nice huh?  The usual of lifting the motor off. 99% of o/b's have to. Cable out of stock from Teleflex. Special order and a 3 week wait. Hey, I didn't build the boat, I'm only repairing it.
What year and model of your boat?
If you want, bring it down to my yard.
We do the impossible, maybe.

Matt,

It's a 1997 2352 with an I/O that I had to just about dismantle to get at the transom connection.  I'm leaning towards losing one of the rod holders under the gunnel and running a rigging tube.....

Do you think I can cut a notch in the support block(?) in this picture?  I don't what to call it.....a stringer??  IF I can cut a notch in that block I can get the angle needed to maybe run the steering cable next to my fish box.  But can I cut that piece?

I guess you can, but I would look for a different way. Once you notch it, you'll be exposing the wood, if there is wood there. Then it would have to be sealed. Can't really tell from the pic.

Well, stepping back and looking at my issue with a clear head and a 'new angle', we completed the install yesterday.  Rerouted, concealed, connected, working and done.  Now on to the rest of my to do list......

Sometimes that is what it takes. Even for me, and I do this stuff all the time. Every boat is different. I'll be finishing up the Trophy I'm doing today as well. Glad you were able to get it done. Need help, just ask.
