3 boaters rescued off Seabright
« on: April 19, 2010, 09:43:15 PM »
I don't get it. What is with these people? 17' boat in the Ocean 2 miles off Seabright,in April with cold water temps that will kill you in a heartbeat with NO VHF RADIO. Stupid? No Common Sense? With all the hype out there on safety and all the commercial tradgedys in the past few years out in the media, how can you be so nieve?
A good radio and antenna can be had for under $200. If not your life, how about the others on your boat?

They were near us when we were at the rocks, a low gunnel 17 ft boat with three good size guys and 3-4 ft chop.........not a good or smart situation.

And no Rod don't blame the Captain on this one, more like  chrz

they were puttering around when I saw them, about hald hour after we headed north heard the call go out and then the CG Zodiac go sceaming down the beach.

Pic that was in the paper showed that the stern was low and gunnel almost to water and they 3 guys were in the bow

Wouldn't you think that, one of the three people aboard would have enough sense to see a red flag waving in their head and say : I don't think this is one of our best Ideas?  Unless  Captain Morgan  or something stronger was influencing their decision. smk

I know what happened

These three guys heard that Rod was giving away NJSW hats to the first people who caught strippers

Wouldn't you risk it all to get a hat ?
