Raritan Bay 3/28 - Skunked!
« on: March 28, 2010, 03:18:09 PM »
Fished from 7:30 am until around 12:30 pm on my buddy's boat in search of stripers.  Made stops in South Amboy, Cliffwood Beach and Keyport. Nothing, not even a nibble.  We fished fresh clams and chummed heavy with fresh and salted clams trying to stir something up.  The only thing stirred up is the water.  Looks a bit dirty still.  The conditions were poor from the start, wind against tide the whole time.  Boat swinging like a pendulum.  Boaters beware, it was like a minefield in the river and back bay.  Debris and large timbers all over the place.  Saw only one other boat the entire time.  The smart ones stayed home.  It was still nice to wet a line. TT^

Maybe that was you, the boat I saw was on the NJ side cruising towards Cliffwood beach from Keyport.  It looked like a center console or maybe a skiff?  It started to get a little snotty around 9 am.  We checked out the Arthur Kill also, that place is an obstacle course.

Hey Dog, I'd love to go, but it all depends on the wife's schedule.  She works retail, nights, weekends, etc. It's a serious threat to my fishing time. ;D  Kezsr will let me know you guys plan, I'll see from there.  If we get the weather they are forecasting.... awww nevermind!  rgmn

fishing has slowed down due to the cold front .. after this flood coming, full moon and the temps in the 70s .. it should be a great first week of april for bass,, guys keep a log book .. you can follow the fish patterns from year to year

Looks like I will be up there on Tuesday.  Heard some good things about the South Amboy area doing well.  We will see.  I will be fishing with my uncle as he was the one doing the scouting yesterday.

Happy Catching

Paul
