Out Riggers on the Hobie Quest.

Okay I just finished putting the out riggers on the kayak and I have to say they look pretty good.  It should add stability and allow me to take my photography equipment out and not worry to much about flipping.

Next project will be putting the traveler on for the anchor which I up graded to a 3 lb'er.  This should be better and keep me pointed in the direction I want to face.

I am looking to get out on Sunday and see how all this new stuff works.  The water out back is warming up nicely, now if the wind cooperates I should be good to go.

I don't want to repeat last years walk from the sedge island to IBSP.  I have to look on the bright side at least I know I can walk most of it...

Those outriggers will make all the difference in the world for you & stability in the Quest! I think you're gonna love 'em!

Well the rain is still threatening plus I was bored so here are some pictures of the outriggers.

They are a little dark but you can get the idea.

I don't know Paul that is getting to be one EXPENSIVE piece of plastic. Could have went with a Tin boat / car topper and been done with it.

Hey skip, I know what you mean gut even a tin boat wont get me where I want to go.  Mist of the water is very shallow and IBSP only allows kayaks and canoe's to launch off its shores.  A 30 lb'er would be nice.  Back where I go it si usually the cookie cutter size ranging from 24 to 34"s.  Still not bad as long as you are catching.

As far as the cost, I add a little each year so it is not too bad.  The only thing I have to do this year is to put the anchor traveler on and that is it for this year.

Chris, the Mirage did not feel right on the hips.  I tried all the boats that had them on and if the quest was available it might of worked. The seat on the Quest is racked back a few degrees and my legs are out much straighter.  Less pressure on the hips.

It would be nice in the future to put an electric on there but than all the state nonsense it is not worth it.

Just got back from Jersey Paddler and picked up what I needed for the anchor traveler and not all I have to do is get if installed this afternoon.  I might even take the kayak out this week.  Looking forward to that.
