Tighten prop nut?
« on: April 14, 2010, 02:23:33 PM »
I am sure there is a right and a wrong way. I know you have to line up for the pin. I remember being told tighten it then back off to the next hole for the pin. Is this correct?

Thanks!! slt

Thats about it. Nuthin special on this one.
A couple of things I do also is swab some grease around the prop shaft seal and I make sure the thrust washer is not seized on the shaft. If its tight, give it a slight tap to break it free. Also when I put the cotter pin in, I leave the longer side of the pin towards the outside of the hub. A slight bend out is all ya need to keep it from coming out, which leaves the shorter side to use a different time.
