Pilot/ReelTight - 4/15
« on: April 16, 2010, 08:17:21 PM »
Got to break loose from work a little early to meet up with John from Reel Tight. Guys at the marina returning from the days reported a slaughter along the beach from Monmouth to Asbury. Fish taking every type of tin thrown at them under working gannets. We had 4 Dozen fresh ones as we planned to anchor given the window of daylight.  Pushed off around 4:45 for incoming tide.  Flat as glass.  Dropped the hook just off the Knoll, chummed, baited up and lines in at 5:10.  Reel Tight sniffs out the first bounce on his light tackle St Croix conventional Shimano setup. No jumping the gun here.  He points the tip, cranks tight and drives home the hook.  First fish is netted. Clean 29" fish.  First time out in local waters this season for John. We're both jacked.  It's only 5:25. The next 45 minutes seems promising.  Multiple bites.  Swings and misses.  I'm watching this all go down and can't beg for a bite!  Did manage a skate  thud  Incoming started ripping pretty good.  Touches died off.  We made an adjustment an hour and half into it. Nothing else materialized. Ended up pulling anchor around 8:00 and headed back for a clean up. Had a good time BS'ng, weather was awesome.  We'll get 'em next time.

Till next time.
