New Helm Seat
« on: April 25, 2010, 12:48:09 PM »
I decided to replace the stock Striper seat with a new Tempress Elite High Back seat. Wow, I should have done this along time ago. The extra padding on the new seat not only feels great while sitting, it make a comfortable leaning post while standing at the helm as well.

I was able to use the existing stock slide/swivel base on the new seat with a slight modification. I ha dto add a stainless screw and washer to the rear of the swivel/slide control rod to keep it from sliding forward past the front of the seat. This was accomplished by a plastic lip on the stock seat, which is not present on the Tempress seat. It works like a charm. The control rod was hollow, and just calling out for this quick fix. <'((((><

You're been busy Darren. If you have no use for the old seat, I will buy it from you if it is in decent condition and fits my post.  t^

cfzd    Nice seat! Ive been looking for a new captain chair and bought one last year and it ended up not fitting so i sent it back. The back of that seat is a leaning post? If so I'm sold! Quick question though... Any idea to tell if it would fit the post i have already?

BottomLine 14, no the back is not a leaning post, but the padding on the front of the seat bottom allows me to lean back on the seat comfortably. The high back seat does have a handle to grab onto if someone needed to while standing behind you, or if you needed to hold onto something when hit by a wave or wake. 178.49 plus shipping came to $200 delivered from IBoats.  http://www.iboats.com/Saltwater-Series-Elite-Helm-Fishing-Boat-Seat-High-Back-White-Tempress/dm/cart_id.686907489--session_id.723247046--view_id.331631

Joe, I took the swivel off of the stock seat, so you would need a base for it. It also has the Striper Logo embroidered on the back, but it's a cover that can snap off, leaving just the hard plastic seat. The seat is in good shape, I just wanted a better helm seat since I'm getting old and fat, and need more padding. You are welcome to it if it works for you. <'((((><

Thanks Darren. I do have the base. I think the base is universal.

Maybe meet at my boat toward the end of next week when the weather is better. You can get a day of fishing in with my crew and see if the STRIPER seat draws in the stripers.  TT^
