Got a late call from T-bone that he and the Silent Assasin were looking to get out on Friday. Meetings previously scheduled got canceled or postponed. Let's go fishin! Pushed off 5:30. Shrewsbury was a little sporty on the way out but manageable. WNW blowin as scheduled. Rounded hook to the familiar sight. Birds, bustin beaks! Went idle and tossed a handful of metal and plastic. Bluefish and we were out of there. Same action quite a way down the beach. Headed south to say some prayers! Spent every bit of 1.5hrs jigging with only one legit hook-up by the Assassin! Ugly stick bent with the baitrunner peeling back a handful for every three cranks. Feeling like we might get something started, the Assassin screams a primordal F*%&. His line is absolutely slack. Paddle shad is gone. No chaff marks and an untied knot. He's pissed!
We continued to work the grounds but nothing was doing. Pull them up boys. We've got to see if we can get these fish to rise. Niners are out and we are on the troll. Not my favorite but has been producing when all else fails. At 9:30 we finally box our first fish with T-bone cranking away on the GT 320. We had the Pearl whites on Port and Chartruse on Starboard. Over the next hour the Chartruese out produces the Whites 3:1. Pulled out an inventory of replacement shads and changed out the whites to tiger stripped green shads. No that was the ticket. For the balance of the troll, they now outproduced the chartruese. Go figure
T-bone got a good workout today. We thought he had a skirt on however. He was moaning like a girl that his arms were getting tired. Might have been the double header combo that did it
Spoke with Joe (Irish Ayes) on the water. That's a nice rig you got there Joe... and continued the troll. Managed to hook up 12 bass, 5 blues (ugh!) and put 5 bass in the box. Fish were 28-32" Also had the opportunity to speak with AJ further back near port. Tried clamming for a while but came up donuts with the meat.
Overall, an excellent weahter day and not a bad day filling the cooler.
Till next time.
