What is the best ramp in Belmar?
« on: April 20, 2010, 11:28:20 AM »
What is the best ramp to use in Belmar (no matter what the tide).  Need to haul out a 25ft Grady White.  Thanks,

I have not used any of the ramps in Belmar but I know those who have. Most prefer the one Rod showed. You can purchase a pass from Mac's B&T on Rt 35.

The municipal ramp is not bad but if you are alone you will have to tie up the boat to get the trailer and you will be tying to a concrete bulkhead. Many a gel coat has been scratched and chipped from the wall.

Low tide is not the best for either ramp.

Low tide is not the best for either ramp.

Even getting around to that ramp can be tricky, that whole area has lowlow water except right down the channel. That ramp is pretty steep too, I use 4LOW even with a small boat.

I use the municipal ramp,it has much less of a grade than Bry's ramp, but I would go @ mid tide or higher. Also as Joe said if you're alone it's a nasty bulkhead.I would call Fisherman's Den 732-681-5005(no answer now) to see if construction started yet, they're supposed to tear down & rebuild all of that

Bry's is the best overall.  Mac's bait and tackle had the keys.  If the water is really low it can be tough but normal low tides are not a problem.  Floating docks on both sides.  Only issue can be speed of the tidal current past the opening to the ramp.

Thanks guys. I kinda forgot about the limited choices. I do remember Bry's being real steep back in the 80's when I bought a boat from them. And the Munipal Ramp is a disgrace. What about marinas with travel lifts? My customer just spent some good money on the boat and he will be bringing the boat, probably with me aboard to the ramp or marina. My trailer is all rollers and I do have 6WD but I would like to give him another option. Would not want to chance damaging his boat or running aground. Low tide is in the AM I believe, just when I want to get the boat.

We got the boat out at Bry's, at the top of the tide. 100% better even in the nasty wind. Thanks for everyone's help.
