Pt. Beach 5/13 A.M.

Well its offical..... I am a surf fisherman   , considering I got my first SKUNK of the season  .

Fished Pt Beach from 6-1130 with salted clams cause Reel Life didnt have any fresh ones.  Had a few bumps but nothing besides a real ruff surf for me to handle. Guess the fish just arent there or I was just not getting far enough out.  Water Temp is def down in the 40's  and well there was ALOT of crap in the water.  Alot of sea weed and such, water was not clear and that played a part as well I bet.  SO what is a good Soweight that everyone uses for surf fishing?  I was using either 2-3 before today, but i have to switch to 6 and it still wasnt hold with getting ~80-100 yards out into the surf.  Hope everyone else does well the next few days, dont think the wife will let me get back out until sometime next week  .

Good try....you know you are a surf fisherman when you use the word SKUNK in a report .

As for weight, you need to go by the conditions and what will hold your bait where you want it.  Some days one size will work and the next you need 8+ oz.  If your setup can't handle that amount of bait, you can go lighter and actively fish the bait working it around the structure out there.

Try the Hatteras sinkers.  I find they work much better than the pyramids.
