I noticed what a beautiful day it was so I blew off the Housework and head for the boat.
Pulled out of Keyport solo around 1PM. The water was dead flat like a lake. I noticed the tops of hundreds of bluefish tales and swirls in the shallow water. I have a friend who asked for Bluesfish so I broke out light tackle and a Red and white CreekChub knuckled plastic topwater plug that I modified with a J hook on the tail that I crushed the barb on it. The bluefish were everywhere and I felt like I was sight casting for Bonefish in the Florida Keys. I landed over 30 bluefish in around an hour and a half and kept 15 for the box. It was alot of fun except for the blood all over the place.
I cleaned up and contacted Dennis(Kezr) on Vhf 68. I took a ride south and waved hello to Dennis.
As I was drifting along setting up two Tony Maja Spooning rigs I saw some splashes and swirls on top so I put a Big yellow plug on my light tackle and tossed it out.
BANG, Instant hookup and a nice fight. A few minutes later I net a 35" Striper..
. Awesome on the light stuff. Made a few more casts with no luck. So I started Bunker spooning towards home and hooked up with a nice 33" Striper.
Nice day
Eve trip to follow,
Good Luck,, Eddie
