On late Tuesday afternoon I spoke with Lou & said based on the seas they are calling for some of the guys in my crew were concerned that they would not enjoy fishing in 5-8 ft seas.Lou said Art it's your call.
I decided it was best to move the trip to another date.
Yesterday am I received a call from Lou on my cell & he said Art it's your birthday today let's go fishing the seas aren't bad there is just a big swell.
I picked up Lunch for us and Jumped on the GSP.
Lou calls me just as I am getting on the GSP and says Art Matt & myself are going to net Bunker so meet us at Bahrs.Lou says Art it's just Matt, you & me if you see anyone in the parking lot that you know ask them if they want to fish.
I pulled into Bahrs parking lot & there's Al Ristori.I spoke with Al for awhile and Capt Lou & Matt picked us up at the dock & off we went.
Lou,Matt,Al guys I can't thank you enough for fishing with me on my 48th Birthday !
Al Ristori Blog from today.
Art Berkman of Pompton Plains celebrated his birthday by joining Capt. Jou Grazioso on his Striper Mania from Keyport to release a striper. Matt " One throw and then go" Calabria of Hazlet cast netted a live well full of scarce river bunkers before Berkman and I joined them at Bahr's Landing in Highlands. We fished only a couple of hours late in the morning down the beach to pick six stripers. Berkman got his birthday bass, but Grazioso's only bass was by far the largest -- a 36-pound release.
There was a surprisingly large swell that created a rough surf, but didn't affect our drifting with live bunkers.
