Question about anchoring
« on: May 29, 2010, 10:12:32 PM »
How much rode will I need to let out when anchoring over either the Sea Girt or Axel Carlson reefs? Thinking of targeting sea bass tomorrow.

Thanks
Ross

Poorly worded question, I know I need minimum 3x depth. I guess what I am asking is how deep is the water at those reefs? I haven't fished either one before.

Thanks
Ross

Are you using a wreck anchor or a regular anchor?
A good day of fishing is better than a bad day of fishing. A bad day of fishing is better than a good day of work. That means work sucks!

you should have at least 300ft for those inshore reefs and the bigger question is how much CHAIN ya got thats what will keep your anchor down for a quick set i personally like 20ft
Tight Lines and Screaming reels

I have 20 ft of chain and 300ft of rope on a windlass with a plow style anchor.
