Sea Hawk fluke opener
« on: May 29, 2010, 05:57:03 PM »
Started off the 2010 Fluke season with a pick of keepers.  A lil slow but enough action to keep everyone interested.  Shorts outnumbered the keepers but did have a decent pull of 26 keepers.  Our 5 lb 11oz pool fish today was caught by Theresa Zacharewich. She also had another keeper and her husband added another to their catch.  High hook had 4, another two anglers had 3, a couple with 2, more with 1 and sadly some with none.  Still a sluggish bite overall, but they are here and action will improve as the water temp increases.

Ahhhhhhhhh ;D  Was great to be back to bucktailing.

Was a pretty decent day. I had alot of short bites today, just couldn't stick them. Flap-jacked way too many and a few came unbuttoned. Had a few shorts eventually taste Spro steel and then finally hooked a good one but thought I'd lift it into the boat and away it went.  thud Had to "cheat" to get my keeper at the end...added a small strip of squid to my bucktail along with the Gulp grub

T did good bucking up those two keepers. My uncle hooked a good amount of shorts but keepers eluded him. Was cool to see a lil 4 year old future sharpie catch 4 shorts by himself.

Fish are there, just need a lil warmth to get them aggressive IMHO. The flatties were all ice cold when brought in.

Went back to the Hook for our first Magic Hours fluke trip of the year. Didn't expect all that much but we did have a pick of fish with some keepers. Will be steadily improving as the summer goes along. Pool fish was a couple of pounds.

Back at it again in the morning. Sailing open-boat both trips tomorrow as well as Monday morning so come on out and give fluking a try slt
