I understand what you're saying TBJ. But remember, what was needed most during disasters like the Haitian earthquake and Hurricane Katrina were donations to the Red Cross and other such charities. It was money that was desperately needed to keep the food, water, medicine, etc. flowing. Those benefit concerts and telethons were needed to raise that money.
The difference in this tragedy is that it's man made and the responsible party has all the money in the world to throw at the problem and to fully compensate those that have been affected. The only question here is, can our government exert enough muscle to get them to pay?
