Tackle advice
« on: June 22, 2010, 09:51:15 AM »
We are going out in the boat this weekend at Great Egg Harbor.  We have the rod and reels we need.  What kind and size of hooks should we be getting for flounder and or sea bass etc.  What weight sinkers would be ideal?

4/0-6/0 Gama Octopus would work for both summer flounder and sea bass. Size sinker depends on the speed of the drift/current, etc. I would bring from 2-10 oz weights. If you need more than 10 oz it isn't fun amymore.  :P

Wow that sounds big for hooks.  Maybe I have been fishing in fresh water too long :-)

In a pinch you can always substitute Khale style hook's.

Personally I like to get low in my stance and drive from my hips, really drive my shoulder into my opponent's midsection and smash him into the ground.     rofla rofla

Seriously, Ayes got you covered for tackle, for bait I use spearing, squid strips, but mostly 4" chartreuse mullet from Gulp!.
The cure for everything is salt water: sweat, tears, and the sea.
