Fished the Navesink on Saturday from 7:00-10:30 AM on the outgoing tide with a gentle West (outgoing tide) wind. Despite excellent drift conditions, I only came up with 3 fluke. Two shorts and one 18.5 keeper.
Used jig-head and Gulp and bucktail and squid.
Kind of a repeat of two weeks ago when I caught only one fish in the river, but it was 19 inches.
I've read many reports over the years, and they have been helpful. I hope this first post of mine will be useful.
