crab pots stolen
« on: June 21, 2010, 09:56:14 PM »
Anybody having any issues with crab pots being stolen? we had a couple in the last two weeks taken or emptied with the trap doors left open. we put a lot of time and effort into these, and there only for personal use we share with the other people at our campground. This is on the wading river just about to the mullica river. It is a shame people can't keep there hands off other people's things. God help the person we find messing with them. and before anybody ask yes we all have the permitts and they are clearly marked.  just venting!!

it's a shame that there are people or low lifes out there that have no respect for other peoples stuff,I have a friend who puts out a killie trap  by his slip and he doesn't mind if others help themselves but rebait the trap and put it back out,no,they just toss it back open after helping themselves.  nosmly    Kez

It really is a shame.  It seems lately that people act almost embarrassed to be courteous, if they're even courteous at all.  Lately if I hold a door for someone I get a sheepish "thanks" with no eye contact, if I even get a thank you at all.  People are just out for themselves, be damned with whoever gets washed in their wake.
The cure for everything is salt water: sweat, tears, and the sea.

it happend to me quite often when I had my house in LEH.  The trick is, don't soak them on the weekends.  I strictly did mine during the week and the problem was minimized greatly.

I have had many stolen over the past several years. I don't know why people will risk whatever punishment would be inflicted on them if they got caught. And eventually they will.  smk

Years back i was getting hit at night with my pots that were in the sod creeks down GB area. I know this sounds harsh, but i zip-tied small pieces of razor wire onto lines and it stopped. Other guys have used hooks onto lines. Really didn't want to do it but i fealt i owed it to them thieves. When your losing money you do what you have to do.
