Cast Net

I am looking to buy a new cast net. I had a superspreader cast net that was very easy to throw but the material which i was i believe monofilament ripped very easily. Could anyone reccomend a more durable cast net I would be throwing it for peanut bunker and moss bunker thank you.

there are bunker nets then there are peanut nets , all made of mono , today we had a push of peanuts and they were all 2-3 inch's but thick so I switched my net on my boat , if you get bait w/ the super spreader stay w/ it

Unfortuantly i threw my old one out because there were so many holes in it but if you are new to cast nets i would reccomend the super spreader cast net 5' to start...this brand comes with a video that shows you how to throw it....also i practiced for about 2 weeks in my back yard throwing it before i brought it to my boat, and when i was using it i was still only able to open it about 70% of the time...i hope this helps

Check this video out.  I used this to train from with the wife providing suggestions on body positioning ie bend knees deeper, throw out even instead of up, etc.

Ok this is driving me nuts spent  hr today looking at nets!! Make it simple for me LOL .. What size should i get for Bunker 3/8 5/8 larger  8ft 10 ft 12 ft?? was looking at Betts no idea what to get..

 Peanut bunker i know smaller was going to go to walmart saw some real cheap ones there for them i think... Suggestions?

Adult bunker ---1 in. mesh or larger. 10 ft.radius
peanuts---3/8 mesh 8 ft radius

Mesh size is unstretched.  stretched would be double.

I was thinking of getting the Betts Mullet 1" x10'  has 1.2 lbs of lead for like $95

It will work. I used to have a betts 1/2" net and would be able to get them in shallow.  Should be able to get all you want with the 1 in..  Price is better then spending $200 on othe nets.

you mentioned above that this will be your first cast net...i would recomend getting something a little bit small say around 5' to 8' max, it takes some time being able to get it to open all the time. if you think its to smalll after some time sell it one ebay and buy a new one they go very fast on ebay. ywith a 10' of greater you may have a hard time getting it to open and you will just get frustrated with it...you cant catch anything if you cant get it to open....also the smaller ones are cheaper

I have an 8' 1.5lbs per lead think it is 1 1/2" mesh for the big bunker and the smal, 3/8" 4' glass minnow for spearing/ peanuts
