Opinions on GULP for fluking

Any thoughts on using Gulp for teasers or for spicing up a bucktail when targeting fluke from the surf? Or should I just consider not being a cheap skate and buy the real stuff?

I have had good success using Gulp on my teaser in the ocean.  What I like, not only does it catch fluke, but it lasts quite awhile.

I agree, but don't let'em dry out on the hook they are a bugger to get off

I've had good success with gulp as a teaser catching fluke. Unfortunately robins and skates also seem to like it.
Has anyone caught  stripers, bluefish, flounder etc. with it?

Twin Lights i had a Gulp squid with a squid strip on my hook and as i was reeling it in from about 15 feet from the shore i caught an 18 inch striper

it helps but so does just about everything else .. some days they want it,, some days they want this or that.. Stock up on a varity of bait and gulps..

you can't go wrong if you use a double hook.  Put fresh bait on one, and gulp on another and see what produces the most.  I switch my fresh bait on the spro from mullet, spearing, smelts, and use a gulp minnow or sand eel and large piece of squid on my upper hook.

Hey Nick would you recommend using a double rig for fishing the surf for fluke also ? It seems to tangle up 75% of the time.

i used the white minnow two weekends ago and got numerous shorts and my dad got one nice 24" fluke fishing with them...it was our first time and we were not dissapointed at all (and as a plus we only went through 3 of them all day about 8 hours of fishing)...i have  yet to try the shrimp but they are in the tackle box waiting for the right momemt to be used...also two weekends ago was the first time i used a bucktail (spro chartruse and white) and was very happy with the results...they were only used during slack tide but from the looks of it my father and i were the only ones catching as compared to the other boats around us....also about 90% of the fluke were caugh on the teaser (white with the red on the top) thanks for all your help i would have never bucktailed if i didnt read about it on this site i actually have no idea what bucktailing even really was

I always use Gulp on my teaser with the chrome ball and hook either spearing or sandeel with it ..... works like a charm all the time

I did well with a Gulp white swim minnow, hoth on a plain hook and with a spinner blade/teaser. I have used the Gulp crab with a shedder oil soaked squid strip on a Spro jig and gotten quite a few fluke as well.

single hook off the surf.  Fishing with a double will only get you in double trouble with tangles.
