Raritan Bay Fluking 6/29
« on: June 29, 2010, 08:06:49 PM »
took my nephew John and his 12 yearold son Johnny out for a day on the water.no rush getting started today.out of Sayreville around 7:30 and started fishing in the river by the train bridge with no takers.move to the bayside and one of our first drifts Johnny gets a 19 incher.make a few more drifts here and no takers, out to the triangle but with the conditions no drift.moved out to open bay to find a drift eventually ended up in the Reach where we had some action picking shorts, some nice sized ones at that 17 inch mark.Johnnys pole bends over and he's excited and so are we thinking a big flattie.Johnny had fun with it but it was a large skate.wind kicked up and moved back to the Triangle and we have a very fast drift with wind and tide in the same direction.pick more shorts at that 17 inch mark, picking fish every drift, get what felt like a large fish on my meat pole that I am jigging a fluke ball with the teaser as the trailer, turn the pole over to Johnny and the fish was lost as it got to the top, appeared to be a very large fluke as it rolled.continued here and the bite seemed to die.headed up the river to my crabbing spot and set out some hand lines and try some crabbing for a short while before going in and   were be able to get 3 nice crabs that were 6 to 7 inches.nephew, myself and especially Johnny had a great day on the water today.headed in around 3.    Kez

Nice report Kez
Give a man a fish, and he can eat for a day. But teach a man how to fish, and he'll be dead of mercury poisoning inside of three years.
