ok here is the report:

my cousin and I fished the north beach this morning and all we caught was sea robins..

we decided to shift spots at around 8 o clock this morning and head up to walk the tip again and just go passed the birds nesting area, there were other people fishing there. on my 3rd cast i hooked up with a 19 1/2 inch fluke, and later i caught a 17 inch fluke. i ended the day with 2 keepers, about a dozen shorts, and about 30 sea robins. i will have pictures tomorrow to show everyone. all in all it was a pretty descent day fishing, and I will be doing the same thing tomorrow  ;D ;D

Fly City 7/07/07,

Hit the beach a little after 5 this evening well tried to at first.  We wanted to fish Gillkins today but were told the beach was closed.  As we road passed the beach access there were two park Police blocking the entrance and the Ocean County CIU van.  At that point I knew there was probably a fatality on the beach.  Found out later it was a banner plane that went down.  I hope he/she made the water landing because the beach at that point is soft and not a place to land a plane.  Our prayers go out to who ever it was.

As far as fishing it was a nothing day again. went down to the pocket and tried there and fished till about 9:30 and packed it in.

I met a couple of guys who are hams and are on the beach a lot I will be hooking up with them on weekends and just like us are not afraid to give out reports so I invited them on the board we'll see if they join.  Could be a real good asset to the site.  They did report that there were a couple of striped bass caught up at the north end before Gillkins in the 30 to 40# range.  Nice but I guess that is the story of my fishing, either in the wrong place or you should of been here yesterday.  Oh well the challenge continues.

I hope tomorrow will be a little more productive.  BTW the flies were terrible.  Bring loads of bug spray if you decide to venture out there in the future.

Happy Catching

Paul

This is an add on to the above info about the banner plane that went down .  The pilot was OK just a little bumps and bruises but thankfully OK.

Gillkins was closed on Sunday as well due to FAA investigation still going on and the plane still on the beach.

Nice report Paul.  They had a sightseeing helocoptor go down in the Hudson today.  All aboard survived, no injuries to speak of.  I hope the plane pilot is ok too.

WOW!  Nice fish, I was thinking of heading out there later today, Tuesday 7/10.  Anyone else heading out today or tomorrow or anytime this week to the Hook?  Will this heat effect the fishing any?
