Fishguts Charters Barnegat Bay report 7/13
« on: July 13, 2010, 08:18:37 PM »
When you get lemons make lemon aid. Todays trip for boat regulars Blackfish Doug, Bill and Matt was planned to be an all day ocean wreck trip. One look at the forcast put the brakes on that. It did look like we would only have a small window early  to get some fishing in. First up we made a run to a small wreck close to the beach hoping to put some meat in the box before we went bay fluking. Conditions were safe but a building sea had the clock running. The 3 anglers went right to work with shorts and a handful keepers. 1 hour and 13 nice seabass in the box it was time to pull the pin and beat on the bay fluke population. The great bite continues on the bay fluke and the numbers are truely amazing. Along with the fast action on shorts is a nice mix of keeper fluke. Some real nice fish started coming up but safety comes first and we headed in at 11am with a front looming. The 3 anglers managed a nice mix of fish for poor conditions boxing 13 keeper seabass,3 keeper fluke(19",19.5 and 20")and released over 60 flatties. They also released one sweet looking shearwater because we were not sure how to cook it ;D
