Raritan Bay Fluking 7/20
« on: July 20, 2010, 07:14:04 PM »
John and myself out of Sayreville this morning around 6,met up with Salty Dog and Ben by the 11A and got some killies from them and fished in that area with them and then they picked up and said they were moving to the TC Buoy,we stayed here picking 1 short then moving to the 9 and 10 in the Reach trying.got a call from Ben that they had a bite going at the TC,boxing one at 23 inches.we moved to the TC and started picking fish but nothing for the box,all shorts, continued the morning fishing here catching a lot of fish but no keepers.Stew(Salty Dog)told us they were making a move around the Hook.we stayed here trying to put something in the cooler.we both had big run offs that almost spooled us,Johns straightened out his hook and was lost,I'm still hooked up,had to start boat to retrieve line.got it to the boat a monster cow nose ray.decided to move back to the Reach where John boated the only keeper of the day for us a fat 19 incher.moved to back bay, gave Ben a shout and they were in the Reach and had boated a couple more keepers and were going in shortly.we stayed at it to around 1:30 with out getting any more for the box.great day on the water with lots of action but couldn't find that keeper size.      Kez

Nice job kez t^
Give a man a fish, and he can eat for a day. But teach a man how to fish, and he'll be dead of mercury poisoning inside of three years.

Hey Dennis,we wound up in SH Channel, but the out going drift was too much.We were using 6ozs. and just barely holding.Saw a small fleet in at the nude beach,so that's were we headed.Lots of action,no keepers. When we lost the drift with the tide change,we headed back to the channel.Put two keepers in the box.Started in around 1:00.Saw large pods of bunker, and something large feeding on them. Not a regular bite, but you'd see on and off feeding going on.So,we snagged some bunker and dropped them to the bottom. No takers.Oh-well.Nice day.Comfortable ride home.Good luck on Saturday.
