Haven't gotten out much with Skunk this season. So today we headed to work deep water. Fueled up and launched. Working with the fleet at the bend in Ambrose. Not a touch but two shorts. Headed out and ran into the balance of the fleet. Picked up two quick 18.5 & 19" One on the Z-SPRO Courtesy of Capt Don
(I wonder if Iola will miss her her polish
) and the molds provided by Capt Joe
. Ton of shorts. Action slowed around 11:30. Moved outside to test some new turf provided by MJ. Found some good life and will have to revisit that area on the next trip. One more for the box 21". And that's how we ended the day.
Oh yeah, one other thing. We did have the Z'OB power down on me while pushing WOT. Low oil indicator. 78 hrs since last service (the 100hr check will be early!) and I'll be honest never even considered checking oil levels. Something for all to consider. It probably takes five minutes at the dock.
Fortunately, had oil on board.
Most boaters are couteous but there was some butt wipe who flew past me in SHB while I'm on the armstrong bracket, cowling off, trying to fill the oil fill spout. Go figure. It takes all kinds. Put two quarts in and good to go.
Not a bad day with plenty of action. Seasons drawing to a close.
Till next time.
