Fish Monger Thurs 8/26 Slow Fluke / Seabass Bailout
« on: August 26, 2010, 09:13:23 PM »
Finally headed back out for another day on the fluke grounds after a break due to weather with Brian, David and friends.

Headed to the sticky stuff in the deeper water... ocean was nice but still some swell and the water was very dirty... Despite a perfect drift to start not to much life besides some shorts.

Bounced around alot of spots with only a few bites... picked a couple keepers but they werent there when ya went back...

North Current kicked in and along with the wind it made the drift very quick... covered alot of ground and get even less bites...

Finally at 12:45 with only 3 keepers in the box we decided to switch gears and try for some seabass to save the day.

Headed offshore... lost the current and the water was super clear.

Seabass were hungry and bit well... drifted around on a bunch of piles and wrecks with good life on almost everything... Fair amount of shorts with some nice size keepers... one spot produced a nice shot of mostly keepers and a bunch of double bangers.

Was able to put together a nice cooler of seabass in the time we had to somewhat salvage the day... Not fluke but some days ya gotta take what the ocean gives ya.

By days end the guys wound up around 70 Seabass to 2lbs to go along with 3 Keeper fluke and a Big Blue.

Nice day on the water!!!

Thanks again guys!!!
