Jamaica II (Fluke / Seabass): 08/29/2010
A buddy and I set out on the Jamaica II, a head-boat which departed from Brielle, NJ at 2:00 PM in search of fluke. Aboard, we asked how they fared that morning, and were informed that there were plenty of fluke biting, but that they were generally small.
We had the same result that afternoon. Seemed like most folks were catching fish, but there weren't many keepers. Lots of small fish. I was lucky, and in the final 10 minutes or so, I pulled in fluke that just barely could be called a keeper. (Fried it up that night -- it was delicious).
The weather was clear and sunny -- a gorgeous day to be out on the boat. Returned to the marina at 7:00 PM. The mates, as always, were great. All in all, it was a very good day, but it would have been excellent had there been more keepers to go around.
