Keeping Eels Alive
« on: September 01, 2010, 08:36:19 AM »
I will be heading down to the Beach Haven area for my first surf casting shot ever.  I have been told to mostly use bunker at this time of year but I could also try eels. I was wondering, does anyone have any advice on how to keep the eels alive at the beach?  How many should I get?
Do you cast and reel eels or do you let them swim on their own, with a fish finder rig?

Thanks!

Jim

A small cooler with an ice pack or packs and rags dipped in saltwater will keep them alive for days. No water needed in cooler. Hook them from the bottom of mouth and out through the top of the mouth. Im not a surf fishing guy, but casting them out on a fishfinder rig and freespool the line will work. TT^
