My 2010 Fluke Season
« on: September 06, 2010, 07:42:49 PM »
I fished from mid June to August 26 about once a week for Fluke.  I ended up with 13 keepers and about 200 shorts for the limited amout of trip I could do.  Two of the keeper Fluke were Five Pounds and both were my personal best.  I used the Gulp swimming mullet, sand eels and belly.  Yet another less than par fluke season.  Glad its over.   But I personally want to thank www.ssfff.net for the opportunity to fish for Fluke.

I did a Mud Hole trip on June 17.  Caught a lot of Ling.  The best was my personal best at Five pounds.  Also caught my first keeper cod which was you guessed it, Five pounds.  Five was my number this year I assume.

Now its on to my favoirtie which is Sea Bass, then Blackfish.

I won't do the RSA trips.  I'm glad its over.  But for those of you who do the RSA trips, I wish you the best.

October in Delaware for Blackfish............  Can't beat that with a stick!!!!!!

Thanks for the recap Jim. It was a pretty poor fluke season for keepers for many this year. I know the guys on my boat didn't put many large fish in the box. We had plenty of the shorties though.

Some personal bests for you this season, that's a plus.  clp

Best of luck with the seabassing this year. I know it's your favorite thing to fish for.  t^

Thank you Joe.  I fish with some of the very best fluke fishermen in NJ.  They had an off year as well.  Its not my game.  But as I said, I fish with some of the best year in and year out and almost to the man they had a bad season.

However, I think that all who fish for fluke on this board should say a BIG "THANK YOU" to our friends from www.SSFFF.NET for their efforts and hard work to keep us fishing for fluke.

But the good news is Sea Bass on the OE a couple of times then a two week stay in Delaware for Blackfish.    clp    chrz

Be good!

Jim, not only does SSFFF deserve a big thank you, they also need donations to keep their research, thus better science, going.  t^

Joe, I agree.  What if we found a way for every member of this site to give five bucks and we give it to www.ssfff.net to say thank you for 2010 and keep the research going for 2011.

Can that be done via this web site?  Maybe something can be set up for members and non members to donate $5 each to say thank you to www.ssfff.net.  And to ask that further research be done to protect this fishery.

Any other thoughts?

Thanks.

Congrats on your PBs GAF! t^

BTW, I know you don't post here all that much, but I'd like to point out that over the past two years our members gave close to $500 to the SSSFF and $1100 to the RFA!

Not too shabby for our little community here.  clp

Why won't you do the RSA trips?
Yea I know it's PAYTOPLAY and that sucks, but at least the money goes to fisheries research- not to the repaving of the parkway or toll collector's pensions....

That is a fact and I'm sure we will do something to again raise some funds for the SSFFF and the RFA. After all, we have to help those who help us.  t^
