10-6-10 IBSP Report and Conditions
« on: October 06, 2010, 06:01:49 PM »
Early morning trip to the park today.  On the sand before sunrise.
It's obvious the water was up into the dunes as late as yesterday with the storm.  There was some erosion, but surprisingly the beach is in pretty good shape for driving. The surf is back to normal, but still dirty.  And there's really not much in the way of cuts....just one longgg sandbar.

I started off around daybreak with clams.  Got a skate and doggie in the first two casts...time to move.  Worked a popular spot with AVAs / teasers.  Got two shorts.  My first bass on metal  ;D.
Worked various other spots in the park till noon with clams and metal...nada.

Nice day out there and I was glad to get out catch some striped ones  TT^

Thanks for a good report Chris.  I am surprised that there is any sand left at all after the mess that started on Sunday.  I wonder how much sand is left at Ortley as I think a lot of the sand that replenished 12 to 17 at IBSP came from there.Good for you in pulling out a couple of bass on the AVA's  They worked for me last week.

What did you use A27's.

The larger of the two this morning was on a 007 w/chart. the smaller was on a 017 w/ white.  The small one was maybe 12 or 14in, the smallest bass I've ever seen.

They work great especially, ready for this, if you fish them real slow.

I have 2 bass so far this fall, small ones but they are bass.  Both caught on ans AVA 007 with a chartreuse tail.

Happy Catching

Paul

My most productive technique with AVAs in the surf has been dragging them through the sand with a Red Gill teaser tied about 24" in front of it. t^

Hi Chris,

I am relatively new to surf fishing and looking to venture out to IBSP. I have a map of the popular places provided in the Asbury Park Press. I already tried Bradley Beach area but got tired of the dogs and surfers there. Can you maybe provide a few places I can try in the park ? It would be nice to catch a few fish. Oh and I don't have an off road vehicle FYI. Thanks in advance Dan
