Headed north from MI this morning with stripers in mind... Trolled and jigged at afew places between the inlet and the rocks with only afew sea robins to show for it
. Things started to look more lively once we got up near the rocks and we got a big chopper on a sandeel umbrella rig. Spent some time chasing a bunch of little blitzes around the rocks and jigging for porgies. It seemed like whenever fish showed on the surface all the boats would race over to them and they would go down without anyone catching anything
. We managed several keeper porgies on jigs and even nailed a nice 24" bonito on a casted A17 on the way back. Got in as the wind started to kick up with panfish for dinner!
