Hunter 2- Oct 24 Porgies
« on: October 25, 2010, 07:25:51 PM »
Pulled out of Keyport at 9:45am to great conditions, Some cloud cover, High tide, water temp was 57deg. We had eels and clams for bait but intended to jig up some bass. I had Cashin, Scott G, And Jumpy Joe on the boat. We searched for birds or other life and wound up down south at the rocks. We sent the eels down on some marks with no luck 5hrug.  I saw Jerry on the Fishmonger and said hello. He was pulling anchor and gave us his Porgy spot. A few minutes later a large Point Pleasant Party boat pulls up very close to our port side and anchors nts. He was so close I could have a conversation with the guys fishing on the boat.      The porgies were coming aboard our boat non-stop. Lots of action. Scott accidentally dropped his brand new Lamiglass and Atlas reel in the water, He was about to jump in because it stayed near the surface for a few seconds.  We tried to retrieve it with bunker snag hooks for about a half an hour. We lost around ten hooks getting caught on the rocks. Luckily he had around 40' of line out on the pole when he dropped it. We started fishing again and amazingly Cashin pulls up Scotts rod and reel.  TT^ TT^ chrz chrz     After some celebrating chrz  Back to the porgies, We kept around 20 porgies and released way over a hundred more. Nice day for the crew and a happy ending for Scotts rod and reel!
   Good Luck,, Eddie
