Hunter 2- Final trip 1 Bass 11/11/2010
« on: November 12, 2010, 09:57:51 PM »
We met at the boat in Keyport at 7:30 am on Veterans day. Scott G, Jersey Joe and a member "who called in sick and wants to remain nameless"- "lets call him Dunkin" because he came armed with a dozen donuts. ;D  By the way, Dunkin felt better when he arrived at the marina ::). We still had live eels in my bucket contraption and we purchased another dozen. As we pulled out of the marina we were greeted by whitecaps,52 deg water temp, 3 hours to top of tide, Coastal flood warnings and a strong N.east wind. I motored towards the Raritan reach buoy 18, 19, 20 area and as we arrived I said this is too uncomfortable to be drifting eels and getting bounced around.Donuts were flying all around, I saw a pink one with sprinkles almost hit the deck when Dunkin back heeled it up to Scott's mouth like a Hackey sack. ;D We head up the Raritan towards the bridges to seek shelter and found some calmer water. We dropped eels in some productive areas from the past and had no action. Then we got very close to some bridge pilings and Jersey Joe hooks up to a Striper. He fought the fish like a pro and "DUNKIN" with his years of netting experience lands the Striper in one shot while he had a Boston cream in his other hand.  :-X :-X, 17 lbs, 36"
We made several moves and wiggles and the winds died down. We hit some open water spots and even trolled the umbrella shad rigs and umbrella tubes but it wasn't meant to be. Back at the marina we cleaned up the boat, retrieved all the dock lines and fenders from the slip and trailered her home for the winter :-\ :-\.
Looking forward to the tog trip next week, And some surf fishing. Maybe Dunkin will bring a couple dozen for all of us. He's coming too. TT^

 Good Luck,,Eddie t^

Sounds like it was a fun trip for your final fling of the season.  Maybe next year I'll get a chance to get out there with you on the Hunter 2. t^

Lot of fun for a last trip. Thanks to Dunkin and Joe we had snacks, food and beverages.. chrz.. one fish in the box is not a bad way to end the season. Pulled Mike F's. boat out on Sunday after giving the kids a ride around the Raritan. On a side note Eddie, Hair of The Dog was on there  "A" game. Thanks for the back stage passes..... ;D ;D ;D
Fishing, with me, has always been an excuse to drink in the daytime.
