What do you folks think of fishbites vs gulp?
I used them today. I got just as many hits on them as the gulp. All shorts of course.  rgmn rgmn

i have not personally used fishbites as of yet. However, heard a lot of good reports about them. few buddies say they work just as good as the gulp.

I tried a pack of the 5" jerkbaits while weakfishing last spring.  I personally didn't care for them, only because most of the baits were all bent up right out of the package.  I did catch a few small blues on them, but no weakies.

Fishbites has been out for about 9 years, we tried when it first came out wasn't a bad product. But Gulp gets a whole lot more press. Fish bites use to be real tough to get off the hook because of the mesh it was molded around! I haven't used it since that first year and  I started getting out fished by Gulp  slt

I would use them again. I didn't see any mesh.

I did well using them for weakfish a few years ago.

On a side note...I'm starting to wonder if Gulp is worth it. If you look at the price on the 4" grubs, they are almost a buck apiece.

Most people use it to sweeten a bucktail. It's hard for me to believe a spearing or strip bait wouldn't work as good or better and they're a whole lot cheaper.

WHen the product first came out what I bought was a strip bait but it was molded around mesh to hold on the hook. As the day went on and the bait disolved the mesh came through, not sure if it is still made the same. ::)

I tried Fishbites last year and I have to agree with Skip.  The mesh or what ever they use in the inside is a pain to take off the hook.  True they last a long time but when they do not produce and it is time to change you have to latterly cut them off the hook.

I would still use gulp over them.  They produce and will outlast a real bait.  Granted I fish them from the jetty at IBSP and not dragging them over a long drift like most, I still find them a keeper in the tackle box.

Happy Catching

Gulps can be recharged and reused over and over until it finally gives out from hooking it repeatedly or if a fluke bites the tail off.  Honestly I think it's cheaper than real bait.

5hrug. I dunno. Not that I'm a scrimper when it comes to fishing stuff but the 6.00 - 7.00 price tag makes me think twice.

When they first came out with the bloodworm strips I stocked them at the B&T.  Most of my customers used them for kingfish off the surf, as they were a more durable and cheaper alternative to real bloodworms.

Very un-scientific...  when fishing for fluke, I use fishbites, my buddy uses Gulp.  I out-fish him 3 to 1.  And I don't think I'm a better fisherman then he is.

I tried them last year and caught nada.  Went to gulp and caught, so I don't know.  Plus I found them very hard to get off the hook to change out.
