TRAWLER OWNER, CAPTAIN CHARGED WITH ILLEGAL HARVESTING
« on: February 07, 2011, 02:35:13 PM »
The trawler Atlantic Queen harvested nearly 2,400 pounds of summer flounder and more
than 1,200 pounds of black sea bass in excess of state limits.  The owner and
captain could face penalties up to $21,000 each.

Yea. One of my fishing buds e-mailed this to me.

And we throw back, one at a time, the fish we can't keep.

I just have to wonder if actions like this are done out of greed for money or desperation in these lousy economic times.????? :headscra:

Greedy people just don't care and desperate ones do stupid things.

Most likely not the first time they have done this, nor the last. They will get hit with some fines. To many, it's just another operating expense. I'm sure they are not the only ones doing things like this.  nosmly   <'((((><

Fine them heavy. Use 100% of the fines to hire additional conservation officers. Make each commercial boat call in their departure and arrival to the docks----make them guess if somebody will be waiting  ???. The poaching (for all species it seems) is way out of hand. It is very disturbing.

You know, the states are all looking for additional revenue. This would be a big ticket item!!!
