3/14-3/17 Salmon River Steelhead
« on: April 03, 2011, 06:46:25 PM »
Hey guys, long time no talk.. hope everyone is doing well!

Had a well written up piece before about my trip to the River but my laptop screwed up, and I dont feel like typing it all out. So here it was in a nutshell.

Went to the river few weeks back with my father, his buddy greg, and my sisters ex boyfreind. I caught the only 2 steelhead of the 3 night 4 day trip. Water was at 1800 cfs. Water temperature was like 31 degrees and the fish had lock jaw. Beads, eggsacks, worms, flies, single eggs, nothing was working. I let these 2 steelhead go and to live another day, week, or until I catch them again in a few weeks when I go back up. rofla

Caught the 2nd one in Orwell brook, and the first one in a little creek branching out of the River somewhere behind Fox Hollow Lodge.

Stayed at Steelhead Lodge, (Best place)... Had pizza and beer all 3 nights. Wish I lived like that everyday, and stayed healthy.

Nice report Mark. 31 degree water temp  cfzd ... them fish didn't have lock jaw, more like they refused to take their hands out of their pockets to grab the bait.  ;D

Thanks for the report Mark.  It looks cold up there.  Beer and pizza is never a bad thing.  Glad to see you back on again my friend.

Happy Catching

Fishing, with me, has always been an excuse to drink in the daytime.
