island beach trip
« on: April 27, 2011, 03:11:21 PM »
well, i arrived at 3:30 a.m on tuesday morning. paid my $5.00 and parked at the last parking area and walked to the inlet ,(there was a rv there... that was weird i thought, but i never was there so what do i know) fished maybe hour and a hald with jigs and a few lures. walked back to the car and moved north a ways just to watch and take a few pics of the sunrise . beautiful as always. about 730 ish i went to betty and nicks for some clams and 2 bunker. went back to the park. the guy says $5.00 i said i paid and gave him my ticket. he said this is yesterdays ticket. i said nope i arrived at 3:30 a.m. he said you lie, the ticket says 11:40 p.m. ... crazy.. so i paid again. i didn't leave my house till 10:30 p.m and stopped for 2 coffees...anyway. i fished from about 8a.m. till 8 p.m. i caught 2 ugly skates, and a sand shark. i didn't have my tape measure ( so i estimated to friends about 20 feet or so  ;D) no bass... the wind was pretty cold and strong and blowing from south to north. was awesome to be out . although my head and face look like a redbeet. with blisters on my head... lol.... first time i was cold and gettin fried at the same time.... don't worry, i am striperless so far, but i am not smart enough to ever give up  cfzd and will return

Nice try!  t^
I'll give you some credit for walking from A-23 to the inlet.  That's one crappy hike.   clp
It's a common thing to roll up to the inlet/pocket to see an RV.  When it's going good out there, you'll see a bunch of them out there.
Good luck to you!  slt

cfzd That is a hike. I'd be tired if I drove that far!  ;D

Can't say you didn't put in the time. South wind always sucks for fishing.  rgmn

Good effort and what a walk to boot.  I know I would not do it that is why I drive.  Like Jason mentioned there are many RV's that go out there especially during the summer months.  Friday nights it is loaded with them.

By rights they have to be actively fishing to stay out there all night.  But like anything else since the crunch there are less park officers to regulate the rules and a lot gets by.

Good luck in your next outing.

Happy Catching

south wind always sucks, i had no idea... although when i was at betty and nicks. the guy behind the counter said : historically according to our log, south winds are terrible for fishing, although last year there were many fish brought in during a south wind.....( what is the best wind in your opinion) next time i am gonna use every advantage available . i guess i better do something to change my luck.

Fishing, with me, has always been an excuse to drink in the daytime.
