Water Staining Question???
« on: April 23, 2011, 11:53:23 AM »
I had the Luna Sea out this weekend.  She was clean at first splash.  I puller her out and washed her off at home, and there is a yellowish water mark on the sides.  It is very difficult to get out, and can't be scrubbed with normal soap and water.  What is causing this stain when only in the water a few hours?  Should I put some special wax or something on it to prevent this in the future?  I would understand the stain being there more if I had the boat in the slip and it sitting there for a while..  5hrug

Since it is fresh I would think it would come off pretty easy. Maybe a couple coats of wax after you get it cleaned up would make it come off easier. 5hrug. Makes you wonder whats in the water.
I recently tried Boat Scrub. That worked pretty good. It worked really good on stainless.

I'll second the motion for wax. I wax mine prior to first splash, then again in July, then again prior to winterizing. Every time I wash the boat, the "Jersey Waterline" comes off with the brush. As for stopping it from occurring, I think you would first have to stop mankind from polluting the oceans. <'((((><
I've spent most of my life fishing, the rest I've just wasted     <'((((><
