Bait of. Choice right now
« on: May 08, 2011, 02:57:05 PM »
Question: from the surf right now is my best bet just some clam strips on a high low or a fish finder? I want to hit the surveyor weekends and want to be prepared. I will also be bringing along some plugs and poppers of course  ;D.
Do you guys recommend anything else right now?

90% of the weigh-ins right now are on clams.  A few on bunker chunks.
And the plug thing should (I hope) happen any day now, so trying them ain't a bad idea.

Plus I like the Hi Lo igs now as they put more bait in the water with double the chances.

Happy Catching

With the fishfinder rig, you might have a better chance of staying away from those annoying skates!  Good luck out there.  Let us know how you do.   slt

Fishing, with me, has always been an excuse to drink in the daytime.

Threw some clams out Yesterday AM with no luck. Strong East wind was making it hard to really get the bait out where i wanted it. alot of boats north and south of where i was, hopefully they did better then i did.

will probably try again tonight or tomorrow am

For Ocean County it is defiantly clams and if you choose to use plugs the color is orange all the way.  I know guys that are spray painting old plugs in orange just because.

Cool tip Paul....I've sprayed some all yellow as that's what has been working for me. Also anything in the parrot color scheme has been crushed!

Oh yeah, I caught 14 fish one day recently strictly using a Danny in the bunker pattern....

Watch painting them old plugs...you may give the fish lead poisoning.  ;D
