Stripers, black drum and king fish questions

How long does the striper run last.  I fish out of Brigantine and it was on fire for a few weeks there now the last week has been very slow.  There are a lot of huge bleack drum being caught in the 40 lb range.  Are black drum good eating?  I heard the larger ones are not good eating but the smller ones were is that true?
Does anyone out there fish for king fish I guess also known as sea mullet?  If so what type of rig should I use?  Thanks for your help.
